Snowdonia and Ancient Volcanoes
Yesterday a hike up Snowdon the highest peak in Wales and England and a true example of Alpine topography in the midst of the Snowdonia National Park. These rocks were formed by volcanoes during the Ordivician period. The park has been designated a national nature preserve. Last night we listened to Cor-y-Brythonaid practicing for the National Eisteddfod of Wales this August in the slate mining town of Blaenau Ffestiniog, a memorable experience!
