Cathedrals and Chapels
The newly painted and gilded icon of St Patrick at St David’s Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, South Wales. Wild Wales Tours are presently creating Walkabouts to visit sacred druid/Christian wells and sites. Yesterday we visited Whitesand’s Beach, the site of St Patrick’s Chapel. Patrick was born in Wales and was captured by Irish pirates at the age of 16 for six years. After returning to Wales he sailed back to Ireland as a Christian missionary from Whitehead beach in the mid 5th century.
We also visited St Govans chapel, built by St Govan an Irish monk. The chapel is built out of limestone in a rocky inlet next to the shore and by a well. He died in the year 586A.D.
